OVA I opens with a closing door, followed by a glimpse of a corpse sitting on the floor. A man then appears to be combing the halls for his niece. His niece, Integra, listens in with fear on her face. Integra, distraught, remembers her father once telling her on his deathbed, “if you ever find yourself in a true crisis, if you've been cornered by some unbeatable enemy, head for the forgotten dungeon. There lies one of the Hellsing family's most valuable assets. Something that will protect you ” with no other options, she makes a mad dash for the room in question and upon opening the door, step's in.

Upon stepping in, Integra finds the aforementioned corpse, and stares at it in bewilderment for a moment. This, however, gives her uncle the chance to catch up to her. and almost immediately shoots her in the arm. Integra flies back and blood from her wound hits the corpse. Her uncle advances on her, prepared to finish the job. He placed the gun on Integra's forehead, ready to pull the trigger, when he notices that the corpse is moving. The Corpse licks the blood off the ground. After licking the blood, all signs of decay disappear from it's face and it gets up. It breaks that which bound it's arms and gets ready to attack. The main title then comes up "HELLSING I".

We're then taken to a chapel in a village called "Cheddar". A group of three police officers investigate the chapel to find the horrific scene of a vicar biting open a girls neck. The vicar notices them and orders a group of zombies to attack the officers, the officers then open fire on the zombies, but are sadly overwhelmed. The police assigned to look on from the outskirts of the village are relieved of their duties when Integra Hellsing arrives and declares that they are dealing with a vampire and his zombie-Like ghouls and that Hellsing will be taking over the operation. Despite their Disbelief, Integra goes on to tell them she's already sent a vampire expert into Cheddar.

We're then shown a man in a red trench coat walking though the forest, he gazes up at the moon and says "What a beautiful night. it makes me thirst for blood" he then walks deeper into the forest. The only survivor among the 3 police officers who entered the chapel, a girl named Seras Victoria, runs through the forest trying to get as far away from the chapel as she can. Her comrades were viciously slaughtered and she is not alone, running to escape the same fate.

Unfortunately, the vampire heads Seras off and grabs her. He begins to sexually molest her and taunts her about her impending doom when she uses a free arm to shoot him in the head. He shrugs it off easy and tells her it's useless before going right back to molesting and taunting her. After several gropes Seras screams out in terror, and just then the Priest notices that they aren't the only ones in that clearing. The lone man in the red coat steps up to interrupt the very bad situation Seras seems to be in. The Priest asks "who the hell are you?" to which the man responds "a hit man".

The priest responds by saying "A hit man? a hit man really? no joke?" and he immediately orders the ghouls to kill the hit man A fierce volley of bullets tears into the hit man, tearing off half his face, his arm and exposing his ribs all before knocking him over. The Priest laughs after accomplishing this killing, only he doesn't notice the blown away parts of the hit man reforming. Integra explains to the bewildered policemen that Hellsing has itself a tame vampire to fight it's own kind as the hit man's body returns to an untouched looking state. The priest looks on in shock as he realizes that this hit man is a vampire as well.

The hit man draws a very large handgun from his coat and begins to blow away all the ghouls. The priest gets scared and realizes that the gun doesn't fire regular bullets. The hit man reloads his gun and takes aim at the priest, however the priest takes cover behind Seras. He begins to taunt the hit man, now that he is safe behind the only survivor, the hit man however, doesn't falter. "Hey Girl. you a Virgin?" is all the hit man says. Seras gets very embarrassed and after being yelled at answers with a "yes". The Hit man suddenly and without warning blows a hole right in Seras' lung, causing the priest to let her go. The hit man rushes toward the priest and lunches his hand through it's heart. The scene goes briefly back to young Integra and the corpse, she asks it it's name, to which it replies "Alucard" and the scene goes back to the hit man The hit man and the corpse are one and the same!

Alucard approaches Seras, who is now on the ground bleeding to death and apologizes for the gun leaving such a big hole. He tells her she doesn't have long and asks what she will do.

As Seras lies dying she flashes back to a vicious sacking of her house that left her parents both dead. She reaches her hand out, not ready to give up and die. Alucard catches it and proclaims that this truly is a beautiful night.

Seras is suddenly and inexplicably in a strange and colorful place. Suddenly a group of ghouls appears and chases her around for a bit, before Alucard appears and asks her how it feels to be dead. she realizes she still has a gaping hole in her chest right before Alucard bites her.

Seras suddenly awakens in a cold sweat, now in another odd place. She quickly checks to make sure the hole is gone before being scared out of her wits when she realizes alucard has been sitting next to her for a while. he asks her what it feels like to be a Draculina and she is surprised to find she has fangs. Integra arrives and presents her with a new uniform. She informs Seras that she will be hunting Vampires for Hellsing from now on.
