Blood Knight FAQ and 'About' Stuff

Q) When did BK get started, and why?

A) I actually started BK way back like 4 years ago, during my sophmore year of High School. I had written a story about Hellsing, since I was entirely unhappy with how the TV series ended, and then I decided to start drawing it. I only had like one person who was interested, so I started up a geocities site to host the colored pages.

Q) Who runs BK?

A) Up until now, it's just been me, with tech-support provided by RageDemon. However, Demon Rin has been appointed co-host with me and will be running the OVA sections of the site, as well as a scanlation sub-site that will be linked up as soon as it exists.

Q) Why do you have like...three different versions of your doujin?

A) The original story just kinda went and painted itself into a corner. I stopped it to prevent myself from hating the story outright, and started v2.0. That one ended because the chick who created (and gave me) Adrian, decided to be a crazy bitch, and I moved out. To correct the mistake of putting Adrian into v2.0, I turned him into Gabriel, stuck only with the design of having long blonde hair. BK3.0 you see his final design, and in "Eidolon: A Walk in Andante," you see him in a non-Hellsing setting created specifically for him. That being said, Adrian and Gabriel are completely seperate characters, related in no way by personality, history, religion, or anything else. The only thing similar between them is their hair, and even that's changed over time. She doesn't see it this way, but I can't help that. Hopefully after 2 years of bitching, she'll stop bad-talking me to anyone who knows my name. *headdesk*

Q) How come you don't post fanfics?

A) Many good writers out there know of the Self-Insertion phenomenon, and I'm not particularilly wanting to host stories like that. To avoid having to tell someone that their story is self-insertion (and have to argue it because they themselves don't see it that way) I just don't take stories anymore. It's also because of the inability to write that befalls many aspiring authors. Grammar, spelling, formatting...it's all important...I don't want to have to edit a story before I post it. I'm lazy.

Q) So how long as BK been online anyway?

A) Well, it's been just about 5 years now. I started BK during Spring of my sophmore year of High School (2002.) This fall will be the 5th anniversary of the concept of BK, since I wrote a long-lost fanfic for it first, and then took to drawing the comic after that. I like to joke that BK's the site that started the fad XD After I got it started, a lot of other similar sites started popping up. I've been trying to stay up in the top tier sites ever since, and I don't think I'm doing too bad. Lots of love for those who've supported me all these years...may there be another 5 to come!

Q) A fanfic?

A) Yeah, a fanfic started it all. I finished watching the TV series and was all psyched about how the cliffhanger left me...so I started writing. A friend of mine [Alexander on the forums] encouraged me to do a comic of it and I put it online through a string of about 5 different geocities accounts. After I realized more than just him was looking at it, I put it up on iPower, then Fuitad, and now it's found it's final home on GoDaddy. I'm still amazed how many people have come to BK after its small and rather uninspiring beginnings. However, I can't find the fic anymore...if I ever get it again, I'll be sure to post it. IIRC, it's hilariously inaccurate, since the only person in Millennium I even knew about was Rip. Cap and Doc were 'vampire 1' and 'vampire 2,' the Major was called "Avdonnes" cuz that's what was on that postcard on the back of one of the manga volumes...and I didn't like the idea of a catboy in the group so I never wrote in any incarnation of Schrodinger. My story was pretty bad. XD

Q) There's pages missing from the first installment of the doujin. Can you post them?

A) No can do. I lost those pages years ago and no one's got a copy of the zip archives I once posted that has them enclosed. Sorry!

Q) Why don't you have a link to TheHellsingProject? You're linked to everyone else it seems...

A) THP has a long-standing hatred for me personally because I wouldn't stand for one of their members bashing another scanlator on my forum. They've constantly escalated their vows to abolish me from their site, even to the point of banning one of their forum's members solely because she mentioned BK. They rather harshly criticize BK themselves publically on their forums and have generally little respect for anyone else in the community that doesn't think the same way they do. As such, I feel I have no reason to promote their Project in any way, shape or form, until either they grow up and stop being such hypocrits, or learn to live with the idea that they weren't here first...especially considering I once helped them with their German.
