Cosplay

(I'm noticing a growing trend wherein I almost never cosplay women.)

Projects in Progress

New/Active Projects

Conventions Attended: ShioKazeCon 01 (2006)
Comments: I wasn't really planning on cosplaying Sora until right about a month before the con...so in Iori-fashion, I paniced to get everything done in time. Sadly, I didn't get the keyblades done, but the outfit itself was a smashing success.

Conventions Attended: Ushicon 5 (2006)
Comments: Despite the fact that I've hated fighting games for the last 7 years, the fact that I'm cosplaying Iori (and wearing his coat outside of costume) is really a sign of the impending apocolypse. My friend Tolarin is cosplaying Kyo Kusanagi with me, and I'm sporting the Iori slot at Akon in a gr
owing KoF group.

Old/Retired Projects

Conventions Attended: AnimeFest! (2005)
Comments: The rescue workers who were staying at the Hyatt that weekend were just in awe of my red contact lenses. Anyway, I really liked this costume...most accurate yet!

Conventions Attended: Akon 16 (2005)
Comments: Finished! It's awesome! I had so much fun at Akon wearing this thing, you have no idea. I guess the only downside is that I didn't pad the wing harness well enough so my collar bones feel awful right now, but it's a learning experience, right? I'll do better next time.

Conventions Attended: Chibicon (2004), Akon 15 (2004), Akon 16 (2005), AnimeFest! (2005)
Comments: By far, the musket was the most fun thing I've ever run amok with. I was famous at Akon for at least that much. Sadly, all of 13 people recognized the costume, most of which already knew me beforehand. Funny enough, one guy thought I was from Hellsing anyway, even though this character never appeared in the anime, and that's all he'd seen (he said I looked Hellsing-ish.) Chibicon before that was funny though, because someone there thought I was Integral. Yeah, of course I'm cosplaying Integral...what Integral would be seen without her 7-foot gun, black hair, and swastika pendant? Not this one, I assure you.

Projects so old that there are almost no Pictures

Conventions Attended: Rennaisance Festival: Houston (2004))
Comments: So that's when I decided, I'd test out my Alucard costume at RenFair just to be sure it'd hold up in extreme conditons. Then I realized...Alucard's outfit was from the Victorian Age, and wasn't even a twinkle in a clothing designers eye back in the days of the Rennaisance. Oh well...I had a guy at the exit go like "Hey, you're a Hellsing fan!" because of my Hellsing bag...I have a feeling he thought Van Helsing, the movie with Hugh Jackman in it. Anyway, my friend Azekiel and I got to see the Brobdingnagian Bards (Brob-dih-na-jian) twice at the festival, and what was really cool, was when they were asked to sing their version of the Monster Mash. When the part came up about "Dracula...and his son!" one of them actually lunged at me o_O He knew who I was dressed as! How awesome is that? VERY awesome, I'd say! They're from Austin though so I guess that helps, given that Austin has a huge gaming business.

Conventions Attended: Akon 14 (2003), Chibicon (2004)
Awards: Hall-Cosplay (Unintentionally)
Comments: The most boring costume to date, and the most aggrivating time spent cosplaying. It was all fine and dandy until my 'Alucard' decided to spend the entire weekend asking me to have sex with him every 15 seconds. Yeah, sure, I understand that it started as a joke, but it got real annoying, real fast. Anyhow, I supposedly won the Hall Cosplay contest in some form at this convention, but I was only informed when everything was being taken down and I was about to go home. Go figure.

Conventions Attended: Ushicon 02 (2002)
Comments: I was one of the first to actually cosplay a KH2 character, seeing as KH1 had only just come out, and not many folks had beaten the game, let alone seen the secret trailer 'Another Side, Another Story' at the very end. I just couldn't help but melt when I saw the two keyblades that this particular Unknown wielded in that trailer, so I spent many an hour in front of the TV trying to find a good angle to sketch both Oblivion and Oathkeeper out so I could make them. I think it was worthwhile though...I got to wear the coat to school on several occasions and was asked if I was a wizard or witch. Yeah! I'm freakin Voldemort!

UPDATE: Looks like, as of KH2's release, this cosplay was actually supposed to be Roxas. Woo! I cosplayed my hero without even knowing it!

Character: Dilandau
Series: Escaflowne
Debut: Akon 13 (2002)
Completed: 100%

Conventions Attended: Akon 13
Comments: Back during the second year of my cosplay, I decided to up the ante and make this complex costume. A friend of mine ran across some pictures and sent this one to me...sadly, it wasn't a very GOOD picture and it didn't really show much of the costume...but it DID make me look like Velociraptors could have well been my distant ancestors. Lookit mah neck! It's all Velociraptory!

Character: Merle
Series: Escaflowne
Debut: Akon 12 (2001)
Completed: 100%

Conventions Attended: Akon 12
Comments: The first costume I was ever to wear at an anime convention. I didn't make it, granted, and of course, the only pic I could find makes my backside look HUGE...but yeah, there ya go.
